In recent times I have done a fair amount of design work on my computer, including:

CD Cover for Clare Kennington

CD Cover

Clare Kennington is a local young violinist. She began studying the violin at the age of 4 and went on to study with Marina Deprossky and Lucia Ibraganova for 3 years before giving her first public performance at the age of 9. When she was 12 she moved to The Purcell School of music, as a scholar under the Government's Music and Ballet Award Scheme and has been with Carol Slater since then. At her first solo recital, when she was 13, she performed works by Kreisler, Bloch, Wienlawski, Lalo, Granados and Tchaikovsky. During this academic year, Clare has given recitals at Loseley House and Cleveland Lodge (the latter as Dorking Decorative and Fine Arts Society's Young Artist 2002), and won the Under 17s String Soloist prize, the Godelias Trophy, at the Godalming Festival.

I took the photos and designed this cover for Clare. The aim was that sales of the CD might help in her family's quest to raise money to go towards the purchase of the 18th Century Italian violin that has been on loan to Clare. The violin was made by Carlo Antonio Testore in 1743 and provides the quality of sound so important for her continuing improvement in her quest to become a soloist.

Friends of Box Hill Appeal Poster

Friends of Box Hill Appeal Poster

The Friends of Box Hill are a charity that works closely with the National Trust to ensure that the best is done to conserve the unique environment of Box Hill and the species that inhabit it. They wanted a poster for an appeal campaign focussing on four individual species - the Musk Orchid, the Straw Belle Moth, the Man Orchid, and the Small Blue Butterfly. The poster was designed to be printed A3 or A4 in size, and you may have trouble reading the text on screen - so I have reproduced it here:

These species need YOU!

  • Box Hill is one of the few places where you will find these species, and even here they are rare.

  • In order to ensure the survival of these and other rare species on Box Hill, they need to be studied and monitored, and the sites where they occur must be managed.

  • Please help fund this work by sending a cheque (payable to The Friends of Box Hill) to: The Hon Treasurer, The Friends of Box Hill, Pixham Mill, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1PQ

  • You can also make a donation at the Information Centre, where there is a display telling you more about this appeal.

You can make a difference by helping to fund their protection.
